ECO Canada, in partnership with the Government of Canada, is pleased to offer wage funding for employers looking to hire newcomers in the environmental sector. This program offers eligible employers up to $15,000 of a newcomer’s salary for placement in a full-time 3 to 6 month environmental position.

It will also provide employers with access to a labour market talent group that can support Clean Technologies growth and the sustainable economic development of Canada’s growing environmental sectors.

The purpose of the program:

  • Is to improve highly skilled newcomers’ integration via long-term strategic recommendations by researching efficient ways to change hiring practices and employer attitudes, while deepening analysis on the return in investment for employers hiring highly skilled newcomers
  • Is to increase highly skilled newcomers’ workplace preparedness, elevating their credibility and job placement success with paid job placement opportunities.

Here's how the program works:

  1. Find out if you qualify by filling out the pre-qualification form
  2. Once pre-qualified complete the entire application
  3. Get approved by ECO Canada’s Employment Programs team
  4. Select a newcomer by accessing a list of accredited professionals who have completed the Essential Skills Training Certificate, and participated in a series of virtual workplace preparedness workshops, elevating their credibility and job placement success
  5. If for any reason you cannot find a suitable candidate from our approved list, please contact us to talk about other options
  6. Once you and your newcomer are approved and the contracts are signed, the newcomer must start work between April 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023
  7. Fill out the three and six-month reports
  8. Receive funding installments at the scheduled times indicated on our agreement

In order to gain access to the host application, please follow the instructions below.

 -            Log into your SurveyMonkey account
-            Click on the pull-down menu at the top right corner
-            Click “My Account”
-            My Profile > Set up Organization

 Once you have completed the set up of your organization, you will have to click “Programs” to gain access to the applications and completed them.
